How to Download and Listen to a Podcast:
If you have an iPod or other portable media player and are interested in getting free, unique content to listen to, podcasting is for you. Podcasting is a way of using your computer to automatically download audio files to your iPod (or other player). It's an exciting alternative to radio because you choose what you want to listen to and when and where you want to listen to your podcasts.
Getting started with podcasting is easy. All you need is a computer with an Internet connection, some free podcast capable software, and optionally, a portable media player (iPod or other MP3 device). Or, you can listen to podcasts right on your computer!
To automatically download files to your iPod, you'll need to use a podcast client. The recommended software is the
free iTunes software offered by Apple; you can get it by going to
http://www.apple.com/downloads. Once installed, simply click the "iTunes"
icon next to one or more of the podcasts below, and the podcast will automatically be added to your iTunes podcast list.
From there, you can tell iTunes to update your podcast on a regular basis, to get the latest episodes.
An alternative podcast-capable program is iPodder (www.podcasttools.com/ipodder/),
a free, open-source client that is available for Mac OS X & Windows users. Also, most web browsers are capable of consuming the podcast feed
directly; click the "podcast" icon next to any podcast below, and if you are using a recent browser, it will either present you with the episodes
for download, or ask you if you wish to subscribe to the "feed" that represents our podcast.
