Initiate Emergency Therapy for MH Acute Phase Treatment

  • Get help. Get antidote. Notify surgeon
  • Dantrolene Sodium for Injection 2.5 mg/kg rapidly IV through large-bore IV, if possible
  • Bicarbonate for metabolic acidosis
  • Cool the patient

Recommend:

  • 36 vials of the antidote be available
  • MH cart is stocked and ready
  • Staff is ready to recognize, diagnose, and treat MH
  • Transfer plan is ready if needed.
